Walk Notts, the campaign that encourages people to walk more, says it has big ambitions to get communities in Nottingham to walk together.
The month-long scheme organised by Walk Notts and funded by Sport England, takes place over the course of May with different charities organising walks.
Friends of Woodthorpe Grange Park Group are one charity that have helped drive the campaign by organising regular walks across their local park. Paul Smyth, the chair of the charity, leads these walks and teaches people about the history of the park. He says it’s helping people learn in a way that’s both active and social. “Just walking around the park, [they] don’t realise how much history’s attached to it”.

Transforming Notts Together are another charity that have joined the campaign. Nigel Adams, the chair of the charity, says organising the walks has helped connect “lots of different churches and community projects”. He added that the walks are bringing people from around the county together.
